Live review: Bennycamps and the Bastards, Triacs, and Iggy Poop at The Blue Room

The night started out with a full room of excited participants ready for an amazing show. BennyCamps and the Bastards kicked the performance off, with guitarist  Bennett Campbell initiating an ear-piercing riff that segued into headbanging drums by Tony Castillo. Along with bassist Tim Graffuis, the three-piece — dressed in cowboy outfits — sent everyone into a frenzy through early 2000s’ inspired tracks that really got you moving.

The next band to play was Triacs. They started out with a really funky groove that made you feel like you were being teleported back to the 1970s. Drummer Eric Anderson pulled out all the stops to keep everyone on their toes, while bassist Jack Christensen hit the audience with groovy, heart-pounding chords. The group was rounded out by Elliot Cross on guitar, leading the band through a catchy set, including a 15-minute long song that was full of soul.

The last to play was the unlike-any-other quartet Iggy Poop. Led by Scout Smissen on vocals, the ensemble really knew how to work a crowd. All around, audience members were hanging on to every beat. Overall, the night was an unforgettable blast that would leave your neck sore from headbanging too much.
